THE BRADLEY SILK SYSTEM
Three thread types, one simple system—designed to make stitching and color selection easy.
Over 352 colors, dyed to beconsistent & vibrant.
The same 352 colors across every Bradley Silk thread type.
WHY SILK?
Silk has long been valued by needlepoint stitchers for its natural sheen, strength, and smooth finish.
Compared to other threads, silk glides more easily through the canvas, making it a pleasure to stitch with, and creating even stitches and beautiful coverage. Its soft luster adds depth and dimension, allowing colors to appear richer and more dynamic on your finished piece.
Durable yet refined, silk is an ideal choice for projects you want to last—and look exceptional.
Understanding Colors & Numbering
Bradley Silk is designed to make selecting colors and thread types simple and consistent across every project.
- Each color is assigned a core color number (for example, 174), which stays the same across all thread types
- Thread type is indicated by a number added to the beginning of the color code
- 8-Ply threads begin with 1 (e.g., 1174)
- 13 Count threads begin with 3 (e.g., 3174)
- 18 Count threads begin with 8 (e.g., 8174)
- This system makes it easy to match colors across different thread types while keeping your palette consistent
Our plied silk thread is available in 15-yard skeins and can be stitched using any number of strands to achieve your desired coverage. For example:
- Approximately 14.4 square inches on 18 mesh using 4 strands
- Approximately 9.4 square inches on 13 mesh using 8 strands
